14U Singles

The County Finals for the 14U Singles event of this year’s Play Your Way To Wimbledon were held on Saturday 27^th June. The weather was sunny and warm and luckily it was only 29° degrees and not 34°+ degrees that it had been the days before.

In the Girls’ Final, Liliana Mawo (Elite Tennis) beat Abbygail Lu (Portsmouth High School) 4-1, 4-3(4) and Grace Hu (Thornden TC) beat Esther Wycherley (Elite Tennis) 2-4, 4-0, 10-4 in the 3^rd / 4^th play-off.

In the Boys’ Final, Matthew Gannon (Elite Tennis) beat Jack Read (Thornden TC) 4-2, 4-0 and Miles Pettman (Bedales School) beat Koby Crumpler (Totton & Eling TC) 4-1, 2-4, 10-8 for 3^rd / 4^th play-off.

Adult Doubles Area Finals

The Adult Doubles Area Finals was held between H&IOW, Channel Islands and Sussex and was held on Saturday 20^th June at CourtX.

We had 6 Ladies’ pairs compete in the Area Finals out of the 10 that qualified and 7 Men’s pairs out of the 12 that qualified.

In the Ladies’ event, the number 1 seeds (Maureen Champa and Megan Goring) from Chichester R&F Club beat Ali Fowler and Steph Lowe (Totton & Eling) with Claire Reed and Ann Wilson beating Diane Grandvoinet and Assura Greco (Winchester R&F) for 3^rd / 4^th place.

In the Men’s event, the number 1 seeds also won – congratulations to Tom Coward and Sam Waton from Basset LTC who defeated Stefan Couch and Jason Rodwell (Comptons TC, Sussex).  William Feltham and Jon Potter (Sussex County LTC) beat Alexander Nikolov and Joseph Pollen (The Holbrook Club, Sussex) for 3^rd / 4^th place.

18U Doubles

The 18U Doubles Area Final was held at West Worthing T&S Club over the weekend of 20^th / 21^st June with 5 girls pairs and 6 boys pairs.  Well done to Jack Read (Thornden TC) and partner, Noah Davies who finished 4^th and to Alisa Markova and Evie Walsh (Bedales School) who finished 3^rd.
