The Coach Forum was aimed at coaches with an interest in developing mental skills for grass-roots up to competitive level players.
The off-court session was held first with the main theme being ‘developing better communication with parents and key stakeholders’ and coaches had the chance to discuss personal experiences and share top-tips.
The on-court session followed and covered mental skills in a practical and coach friendly approach and showcased a variety of drills that set up an environment to train mental skills. The session was developed by Chris Harwood, a chartered sports psychologist for 30+ years, a Sport Psychology Professor at Loughborough Uni and now a Director of Nottingham Trent Uni, alongside Liz Jones, former WTA 100 player, and Merlin van de Braam, Head of Coach Development & Support at the LTA.
Lunch was provided by the County and followed the on-court session.
We had 49 coaches attend and all were fully engaged and there were some really good conversations during the off-court session. A free LTA water bottle was given out at the end.
A big thank you to UCoach (Lorraine, Steve and Nigel), Marc Codling (H&IOW Tennis) and Macca at PTC.
