The team of Liz Davies, Dee Flanagan, Lesley Johnson, Merie Sabey, Judy Slaney and Jane Timmis (Captain) won all their matches in Group 1b played during July – September 2024.  The results were:

Beat:  Sussex 3-2,  Kent  5-0, Buckinghamshire 5-0, Dorset 4-1, Surrey 3-2

The winners of Group 1a were Herefordshire and Worcestershire who had also won all their matches, so it was going to be quite tough, and a couple of the H&IOW players weren’t available for the Finals.

Play started at 9.30 am with Jane and Dee playing the two singles and this was followed by the first doubles of Liz and Judy, who played so well and won 6-0, 6-0.  This meant we were 1-2 down going into doubles 2 and 3.  Liz and Judy again played well and just lost the first set tie-break 6-8 and the second set 4-6.  Dee and Jane narrowly lost the match tie-break 10-6 after winning the second set 7-5.

So, H&IOW were runners-up for the second year – well done to all the players.
