Congratulations to our 18U Girls County Cup team – Emma Bebbington, Lana Benson, Victoria Ernsberger, Katie Hart, Tobechi Nwawudu, Evie Pate, Leena Sunil, Mia Zhou – who were competing in Group 4b at Taunton Tennis Centre.  The other counties were:   Devon, Somerset and Staffordshire.

The weekend started well with a 9-0 win v Staffordshire, followed by a 8-1 win v Devon on the second day.  So we needed to win on the last day v Somerset to secure promotion to Group 3 next year.  Going into the doubles, we were 4-2 so just needed to win one!  Well played Mia and Victoria who won doubles 3 and with a 5-4 result, the girls gained promotion for next year.

Our 18U Boys County Cup team were in Group 2A at Bromley Tennis Centre.  The other counties were:  Cambridgeshire, Kent and Middlesex, so we knew it was going to be a tough weekend!

The team was: Arthur Attrill, Sam Cawood, Alfie Hand, Thomas Hargreave, Daniel Rutorov, Edward Sanders, Edwin Vopson, Scott Yates

Results: Lost to Cambridgeshire 1-8, Kent 4-5, Middlesex 1-5

It was a great effort and a very close result v Kent, and all the boys gained a lot of experience with some very tight matches.  Well done to Arthur who won 3 from 3 singles at number 1 against very high level opponents.
