Last time they won 7/5 and we were out for revenge!
The Hampshire team was:
1 – Mats Colling (Thornden)
2 – Miles McDowell (Winchester)
3 – Kris Hook (Winchester)
4 – James Ardley (Thornden)
5 – Ed Saunders (Lee)
6 – Sam Li (Warsash)
Doubles
1 – Miles + Kris
2 – Mats + James
3 – Ed + Sam
Again Dorset turned up with their full county team, so we knew it was going to be tough as we had played that team before.
The first three singles were very tight, but we were ready for the fight and we won all three. Setting up a good grounding for our the top three players who proceeded to win all three rubbers relatively easily!
We now were 6/0 up and had won the match.
The doubles was now a more relaxed affair, with good tennis from both counties, but after being a set up in all three matches we ran out of time on the courts and had to finish matches as not finished.
So the result was a 6/0 win for Hampshire & IOW.
Rubbers:
1 – M Colling v H Pickard – H 6/4 6/3
2 – M McDowell v A Parris – H 6/1 6/3
3 – K Hook v O Blakely- H 7/6 6/4
4 – J Ardley v O Parris – H 6/3 6/2
5 – E Saunders v B Prichard – H 6/7 6/4 10/4
6 – S Li v T Windsor – H 2/6 7/5 12/10
1 – Miles + Kris v Parris + Blakely 6/1 3/2
2 – Mats + James v Prichard + Pickard 6/3 3/1
3 – Sam + Ed v O Parris + Windsor 7/5 0/3
We await the rematch from Dorset later in the year!
