Hampshire & IOW Tennis hosted the 18U Doubles Area Finals and 14U Singles County Finals on the fantastic grass courts at CourtX, Southsea, for the second year.
14U Singles
The County Finals for the 14U Singles event of this year’s Play Your Way To Wimbledon were held on Saturday 29th June. The weather was sunny and warm all day so both the boys and girls events were completed in one day.
We had a 16 boys draw and 12 girls draw from the Club / Park / School qualifying events (20 Clubs / Parks / Schools entered).
Congratulations to Samuel Fussell who won the event with Haohan Lu as the runner-up. Oliver Casselton and Riley Web had a very close 3rd / 4th play-off with Oliver winning the 3rd set tie-break 15-13. 
Congratulations to Emily Jaggers who won the event with Leena Sunil as runner-up – this was a repeat of the 2023 Final. In the 3rd / 4th play-off Tobechi Nwawudu won 4-2, 4-3(4) v Sofia Pavlikova.
Good luck to both Samuel and Emily when they compete in the National Finals at Wimbledon w/c 11th August.
18U Doubles
The 18U Doubles Area Final was for H&IOW, Channel Islands and Sussex and the event was held on Saturday 22nd June.
In the girls draw there were four pairs (1 H&IOW, 4 Sussex) and congratulations to Ella & Myla (Maresfield TC, Sussex) who won for the second year and Roseanna Fergie & Pippa Reynolds (Maresfield TC, Sussex) were the runners-up. Anna Shepherd & Olivia Shepherd (Romsey School) were 3rd with Sophie Brown & Florence Chaffer (Hailsham Tennis Club, Sussex) 4th.
In the boys draw there were 12 pairs (2 CI, 5 H&IOW, 5 Sus) and congratulations to Jonah Goudie & Lucas Quinn (Maresfield TC, Sussex) winners with Thomas Allen-Green & Edward Sanders (H&IOW) runners-up. James Millham & Zeteny Topperczer (H&IOW) won the 3rd / 4th play-off v Benjamin Atkins & Jacob Turner (Lancing College, Sussex).
Good luck to the winners when they play at Wimbledon w/c 11th August.
