These central venue events were specifically aimed at players who had not competed in any LTA local competitions, giving them the opportunity to represent their Club. It was not suitable for the more experienced competing players. This team event gave a great opportunity for prospective new players to represent their Club as a team. Players needed to be able to serve (under arm was also fine!) and hold a rally. As the events were played as a team event, every rubber and point counted. For each ball colour, the team comprised of 4 / 5 players of either gender and each team had a Captain, either a parent or coach.
All the events were held at Portsmouth Tennis Centre:-
8U Red – 18th March
We had 8 teams enter from: Active Aces Bishops Waltham, Andover LTC, Aldershot TC, Avenue LTC, Colden Common TC, Manydown TC x 2 teams and Portsmouth Tennis Centre.
Congratulations to Cheam Manydown who won the event with Avenue LTC and runners-up. Well done to all the players – it was a great fun morning of team tennis and an enjoyable first experience into competition.
9U Orange – 2nd April
We had 4 teams enter from: Active Aces Bishop’s Waltham, Avenue LTC, Colden Common TC, Portsmouth Tennis Centre. Unfortunately one team with to withdraw a week before because of illness / holiday.
Congratulations to Active Aces Bishop’s Waltham the winners and Colden Common runners-up. Again this was a great fun morning and an enjoyable experience for all the players.
10U Green – 25th March
We had 3 teams enter from: Aldershot TC, Avenue LTC and Portsmouth Tennis Centre.
Congratulations to Aldershot TC the winners with Portsmouth Tennis Centre runners-up and Avenue LTC third.
We would like to say a big thank you to Jenny Sayer for organising all the events and refereeing the Red and Orange events and Diana Shields for refereeing the Green event. Also thanks to all the Coaches / Parents who were Captains on the day!
Well done to all the players and we hope to see you in more competitions during the summer.
