14U Singles

The County Finals for the 14U Singles event of this year’s Play Your Way To Wimbledon were held over the weekend of 8^th / 9^th July at CourtX.

From the 37 winners and runners-up from the venue events we had a 16 boys draw and an 8 girls draw.

Unfortunately, on the Saturday morning the thunderstorms forecast arrived and we were unable to play on the grass until after midday.  Jenny took the decision to postpone the girls’ event to Sunday.  This was held indoors at Portsmouth Tennis Centre, as rain was again forecast for the morning.

Congratulations to:

Daniel Rutorov (qualified from PTC) who won the boys event after a very close final with Scott Yates (qualified from Manydown TC) 4-3(1), 4-3(3)

Emily Jaggers (qualified from Hale Gardens LTC) who won the girls event with Leena Sunil (qualified from Portsmouth High School)

Good luck to both Daniel and Emily when they play at Wimbledon w/c 6^th August.

18U Doubles

This year there were Area finals for the 18U Doubles event, which was introduced in 2022, and we hosted the Channel Islands and Sussex at CourtX on Saturday 24^th June.

In the girls draw there were four pairs (1 CI, 1 H&IOW, 2 Sus).  Congratulations to Ella & Myla (Maresfield TC, Sussex) who won with Isabella & Ketaki (Caesarean Tennis Club, CI) as runners-up, Karolina & Maria (Andover LTC) 3^rd and Florence & Jemima (Hurstpierpoint College, Sussex) 4^th.

In the boys draw there were 12 pairs (2 CI, 6 H&IOW, 4 Sus).  Congratulations to James and Lucas (Maresfield TC, Sussex) winners with James Millham and Zeteny Topperczer as runners-up.

Good luck to the winners when they play at Wimbledon w/c 6^th August.
