Day 1 – 1^st match v Devon

Riley at 4 had a tough match and lost 1-4, 0-4 whilst Monty at 3 had an easy 4-0, 4-1 win.  Lex lost 1-4, 0-4 at 2 and Harry narrowly lost 7-10 in the third set tie-break, so that meant 1-3 going into the doubles.

Monty and Lex teamed up at doubles 2 and won 4-2, 4-3 and Harry and Riley played at doubles 1 and after a huge effort they lost 8-10 in the third set tie-break.  This meant Devon won 4-2.  Losing two tie-breaks was heartbreaking for the boys – they had got so close!

Day 1 – 2^nd match v Somerset

As with the Devon match after 3 and 4 singles had been played, we were 1-1.  Riley had a close loss 0-4, 4-2, 6-10 and Monty had another easy 4-1, 4-0 win.  There were good wins for both Lex and Harry so it was 3-1 going into the doubles.

Harry and Lex had another doubles win 4-0, 4-1 and Harry and Riley lost 1-4, 1-4 so the end of match result was 4-2 to HIOW.

Day 2 – v Channel Islands – 3^rd / 4^th Play-off

Riley, Monty, Lex and Harry all won the singles easily only dropping 2 games and we were 4-0 going into the doubles.  We changed the doubles pairings to Harry & Monty and Lex & Riley and both had comfortable wins so end of match result was 6-0 – we were 3^rd.  It wasn’t the toughest match, but the boys did the business to concentrate and won efficiently.

Dorset beat Devon in the match shoot-out, but for a few points here or there in our first match, it could have been us – but such is tennis!
