Grants & Loans

Guidance for applications for grants and loans

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Tennis (HIOWT)’s core purpose is to provide public benefit by promoting community participation in healthy recreation, through the development, promotion and support of tennis and padel in Hampshire and Isle of Wight (HIOW). To this end, LTA-registered venues located within the county and opted-in to membership of HIOWT may apply for small grants and loans.

In broad terms, HIOWT would consider any grant or loan request from any opted-in LTA-registered venue or LTA-accredited coach in HIOW which:

  • assists in increasing the number of people playing, or
  • assists in retaining people playing who might otherwise lapse, or
  • assists in increasing the number of times that people regularly play.

Generally speaking, applications should be for no more than £5,000 per project and at this higher limit, applicants might expect an element of loan funding to be offered, depending on the public benefit. Applications for smaller amounts are encouraged, i.e. there is no lower limit.

Loans are interest-free and are typically repayable over 3 full financial years.

A mix of loan and grant can be considered.

The Board of Trustees of HIOWT reviews applications on an ongoing basis and may ask additional assessment questions. Decisions are made a swiftly as possible upon receipt of the application and/or further information requested.

The application should be submitted by email to: info@hampshireiow.tennis.

Detailed guidance on the scope, how to apply, and the review process can be found in the following guidelines. We have also prepared an application form to guide you through the process.
